Smelly shoes

I work in an office with little air conditioning (just plug in fans). My feet get sweaty - especially as I do quite a bit of walking. I bought a new pair of black shoes about a month ago and now they are starting to smell a bit. I dont get it. I shower every day and put on new socks every day. Any solutions?

Maybe 2 pairs of shoes one for going into work and keep the other ones for in work , also foot deodorant and odor eaters insoles might help, i use it myself as my feet do sweat a lot.

Get borax powder from the chemist. Pour a small amount into your shoes every night and shake it out in the morning. Within a week the smell will be gone completely. I did it on a pair of trainers years ago and it worked a treat (they were so bad they had to be left outside the house at night!!).

I would say it’s your feet primarily but that the shoes are not helping. It’s nothing to do with showering etc. I would consider myself particular about hygiene/showering but suffered from sweaty feet and spend a lot of time on my feet. I recently purchased some foot peels after hearing from a mate hat they transformed his feet. Link below..

Using this twice combined with buying leather shoes and non synthetic material socks has made a huge difference!
Felt bizarre using the peel but having seen the results it’s worth it :D

I've had this problem from time to time too.

I've used Pedamed powder, I shake a little inside socks and shoes. Works very well as an odour eliminator, anti perspirant and prevents athletes foot.

Strangely enough this is worse for me in winter than summer.

    I've smelly feet too, lol,

Best thing I found and use all the time is Dettol aerosol spray.

What causes the smell is a build up of bacteria. I spray my shoes once a week, bacteria get killed and the smell is gone

Get 2 pairs od the same shoes and rotate them every day. Have they leather insoles or are they kind of cardboardy? I had the same problem years ago. Smelly feet. My problem was I was buying cheap shoes, with crappy insoles.

I changed shoes, my feet improved.

If the shoes are man-made materials, this might be contributing. Real leather is a little more breathable than some of the plastic substitutes. This might be something to look at.

But it's quite warm here, these last weeks, it's not unusual. Echo the advice about swapping shoes daily - it's good for the shoes to get a rest too - cotton socks and some talc should help a little (Imperial Leather is pretty reasonable in the chemist)

A drop of powder in the socks before you put them on will help.

I worked in the tropics for a while (sounds so colonial) and Scholl odour eater insoles were the done thing in hot weather when wearing slaps/flip-fops weren't appropriate. Bacteria killing insoles that hit the smell and the cause.

Baking soda is supposed to be good.

Definitely use at least two pairs of shoes, if not more. Put cedar shoe trees in the shoes you've just taken off until the following day. Should do the trick.

Apparently putting shoes in a ziplock bag in the freezer overnight will help with the smell. I'm yet to try this.
