Pretty decent price for a basic but branded 43" FHD TV. I don't think I've ever seen it at 499, but still a good price.

Just note the legs at either end of the screen, for anyone who may have a narrower table.

Only two hdmi ports and im not impressed with refresh rate.
Does have satellite channels as well as Irish though.
    Sounds like a good deal.

If the model does have V at the end, this indicates it has a satellite tuner.

How does that work? Does the tuner need to be connected to a coax or aerial?

If you connect it to a sky dish you can tune any Freesat channels to the tv.

yes it would need to be connected to a satellite dish to receive FTA satellite channels, which is not "freesat"
Id say a freesat tv would be more expensive

50/60hz like 99% of the Tvs owned in Ireland, don’t think anyone really cares about refresh rate - but they do like to read big numbers claiming to be representative of the refresh rate :P

people can come up with statistics to prove anything Kent. 40% of all people know that - homer j simpson.

For €250 it's a good deal, 2 HDMI ports and standard 60hz refresh rate is to be expected at that price.

I mean come on, context here is important. It's a 43" LG set for €250. There's not much room to be unimpressed about anything. I'd certainly take it over the no-name brands/Vestel sets you'd get elsewhere for that price.

LG tvs with satellite and terrestrial tuners can be awkward to switch between terrestrial and satellite channels, involving lots of button pressing, ive seen 5 or 6
"Vestel" tvs have a smoother switching process.
This may have changed recently as software progresses.

Turn on bbc1 hold your finger on number 1 for a few seconds it saves bbc1 do the same with RTÉ 1 as number 2 and from now on long press number 1 & 2 switches from sat to terrestrial

Is this true? What's the difference between the 2?

Freesat has a far better program guide and is maintenance free, no retuning to find new channels or ones that move frequency.

What Lidl stores are these available in? Any in Cork?

I saw loads of people buying these at the Warehouse Sale in Swords over weekend, I'm really curious as to whether they are any use. I suppose 43" for €250 can't be too bad.
