So just wondering if anyone can help me out, my laptop has been without sound now for a while although sound does work when using earphones. Ive tried to get some help online but to no avail.

Tried all the usual stuff checking the drivers resinstalling etc.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Happened on my mobile recently. It just thinks the headphone jack is in, so might be similar here.

I sorted it by blasting cold air from the hairdryer into the headphone jack and then cleaning it with a cotton bud, although be sure to stretch the cotton out from the actual bud part so you're not just jamming it straight in and doing any damage.

Check the sound icon in bottom right and see what playback device is showing when headphones are out.

Should also check device manager and see if the sound controller/driver is up-to-date and installed correctly.
