Trees cause interference?

    Hi
Just wonder if trees can cause a poor signal.
In sligo but not a great coverage area due to being too close to truskmore and mountain blocking direct view of mast. Was working fine for years though but recently the picture has degraded.
Replace the aerial as the old one was showing signs of rust etc...
Anyway CH53 I'm getting 90% quality but CH57 goes between 58% and 90%. up and down on its own, but mostly stays at 53% and therefore RTE1 breaks up.
There are large trees but about 50m away. I'm now thinking the summer leaves are causing the issue
Its also strange that CH53 is perfect.
    Any suggestions?
Mast head amp, bigger aerial etc...? or maybe just get a professional at this stage.
    Thanks
    KK

Possibly but if it's just a few trees rather than a forest, it's less likely to be leaf interference. There will likely be slightly different signal levels on each frequency.

What kind of aerial did you get? Channels 52 and over are to be reallocated for mobile network use in the next few years so your local frequencies will change. If you have a wideband aerial, you will be fine for future changes.

There seems to be a regular number of posts in the last few months about poor signal on Saorview. Wonder are they turning down the power to save money.

If trees are causing problems, it would be worth trying different aerial locations: maybe just a few feet up, down, or side-to-side from where it is now, if that's possible. Sometimes it's even possible to have the aerial looking under the bulk of the tree. Obviously all this is easier if you're able to observe the effect on the signal as you move the aerial

Just one tree can cause trouble, never mind a forest. And I don't think anyone is turning down power: the poor signal in most cases will be down to the usual poor, inadequate, or degraded aerial installation.
