Sound but no picture

So after cancelling my tv subscription (ie chuck the sky box) and being happy enough to get by with iptv, players etc for a while I decided to tune in tv (Sony Bravia) about 12 year old. I hadn't used any of the regular channels in years just the external boxes etc.
Anyway I stuck in the rabbit ears and ran the autotune. Found the channels (well the audio anyway but there is no picture).
Any ideas on what I could do to fix this?
My assumptions (no reason to believe that they are correct) are
    1. As Roku, Kodi box and Sky box all provide picture it should be a setting somewhere preventing the picture from the rabbit ears from being displayed rather than a mechanical fault preventing anything from being shown.
2.As sound is perfect the tuning in process is completed correctly and if the settings could even be factory reset everything should revert to normal and rerunning the auto tune should get me to where I want to be.

All suggestions gratefully received. I am no expert so please don't assume I wouldn't be stupid enough to have done XYZ I almost certainly would be..

Most likely going by the age of the TV it is not Saorview compatible. See if your TV is on this list https://www.saorview.ie/en/get/products . If your TV was a UK sourced TV around that time it's likely it is not compatible with Saorview.

Other options could be to purchase a set top box for about €50-€100 and connect the rabbits ears to that.

What exact model is the TV?

If it only has an MPEG2 tuner then it will only have audio. Have you still got the manual?

Sound but no picture indicates the TV doesn't have the necessary MPEG-4 video decoder, MPEG-4 is the video standard used by Saorview. Sony TVs of this vintage only had an MPEG-2 decoder, the older standard used by Freeview in the UK for example.

My 2008 Sony V4500 TV has the correct decoder and IIRC that year Sony incorporated MPEG-4 as standard in their new range of TVs.

Ok thanks guys. Very prompt and helpful.
It's a sony_kdf_50e_2000 and it does have a freeview (but not saorview sticker on it) so I guess that's the problem. I don't have a manual.
I will get a set top box and try to hook the rabbit ears to them.
Probably a waste of money but I have a need to get it working now!

If you had Sky (not Sky Q) it might be worth considering purchasing a combo box which combines both a satellite receiver for viewing free to air tv channels like BBC, ITV, C4 etc along with Saorview channels. Something like mentioned here perhaps...https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057827739

Thanks Atlantic Dawn. I have a approx 5 year old SKY box (Not Sky Q). I have moved since I ditched the subscription though so although I still have the box there is no SKY dish in the new place. There is a Virgin connection from the previous inhabitant though I assume that is as much use as a pair of chocolate sunglasses as there is no box.
    Any suggestions?

If the Virgin connection is still live there's a chance you will pick up the Virgin analogue channels, about 15 of them, once they have not been disabled in your area. All analogue channels they have will be disabled in the next few months so if it works it's only temporary.
