Consultant Referral

Apologies if this is the wrong forum.

I've had an issue for a while now, but the Dr. thinks the cause has been found.
However, it is looking like surgery is needed.

She recommended one consultant, who is away for a few weeks and on discovering this, she recommended another who is, unfortunately, going away for the next month or so.

However, each time I call to let the practice know, the receptionist keeps telling me just to google some consultants, call them, see what the waiting time is and then they will refer me to them.

Surely the GP should be the one making the recommendation? Or am I wrong?

    Thanks

I recently had to do my own ringing for a consultant. Waiting for the public route wasn’t an option, so I took matters in to my own hands and started ringing. Eventually found the one I needed.

That is the issue though; apart from an ENT, I don't know how I should be contacting. Or are they all basically the same?

I've no problem doing my own leg work, but I would like to know who I should be chasing.
