    Hi,

A month ago i started taking the contraceptive pill (microlite) for the first time and im currently im on my week break.
2 weeks into taking it I noticed myself getting more emotional (which was okay, i knew it was just the extra hormones) but now im at the point where im feeling very low and overwhelmed, constantly on the verge of tears, haven’t much interest in doing anything and having anxiety attacks.

I’ve lifted my second prescription from the chemist today but im unsure if I want to/should continue taking them because of the side effects. My doctor is off on holidays at the moment and wont be back until the middle of August and id rather not go to any others so i dont know who to speak to about this.

On one hand im thinking i still might need to give it time for my body to adjust to all the extra hormones because ive only been on it a month but on the other hand what if i did adjust over time but when i want to stop taking it i cant because my hormones will go crazy again. I dont want to experience this anymore

I should mention that i do suffer from anxiety (that im being treated for) and have experienced a bout of depression in the past but this is honestly the worst ive felt in years. I have no reason to be feeling this way, i don’t understand why im so sad.

This is my first time taking a contraceptive so I don’t know what’s normal, would appreciate any help

    ~Thanks

It’s hard to say as every woman is unique and the same pill can affect everyone differently.

We can’t offer medical advice here on Boards, so I’d advise speaking with your GP or with your pharmacist.
