Starting out as an SNA

Hi there
I’m currently applying for SNA posts in my area ( not with much luck ) so I’m wondering has anyone any advice on what I should be doing to maximize my chances of a job, any advice would be greatly appreciated this is a new career for me

It's very difficult to get started as there are so many SNAs out there. Best advice I can give is to get into as many schools as possible in September and ask if you can be Garda vetted for them in order to be available to sub if needed. You need Garda vetting individually for each school. We couldn't find an sna on lots of occasions last year and had student teachers covering posts sometimes. Subbing is the best way to get your foot in the door and make an impression.

When you get your Garda Vetting, offer to work in your preferred school on a voluntary basis.
This will get you known to the principal and you never know who may be off at short notice. Good luck.
