some advice needed folks, I had an old car which was not running and the engine was beyond repair, i needed it gone as the neighbors made a complaint to the local council, so in a rush to get rid of it i saw an add online for a guy who takes away old cars so i called him up and he took it away, he said it was for scrapping and would post me on the scrappage cert, a couple of weeks later i start getting toll fines, as the car wasnt running the guy obviously put the plates on a different car and is using it.... i phoned him up and he blagged me off so i went to the guards (who also called him and blagged them off too) the guard told me to contact the dept of transport, they sent me a declaration form which i got stamped by a solicitor to say i no longer had the car but the dept of transport told me i also need "evidence" that i no longer have the car/ gave it to someone else, eflow said they need confirmation from the dept of transport to say i no longer have the car before they can stop issuing fines, so i'm stuck, i dont know what to do, anyone able to offer me some advice as to how i can get this resolved?

Can the toll company send you a photo. Its unlikely to match your car. You could send that on.

I was driving a car that wasnt mine, on UK plates, The online paying system wouldn't recognize plates, I forgot about it until the owner got a picture of her car on the m50 toll.
There should be a picture with the fine to see if it was your car?

If they want evidence you don't have the car anymore, take a photo of your empty drive and send that onto them.

lol, i was actually thinking along those lines! i know it was silly of me in terms of how i got rid of the car but surely a signed declaration stamped and witnessed by a solicitor should suffice to say i dont have the vehicle any longer

Sorry for dragging up an old thread but hardly worth starting a new one for this query. I have an 02 BMW (in Dublin) that is stopped - only fit for scrap - and I need it removed. I am concerned if it is carted away by one of these recovery operators that it will either be put back on the road or end up appearing on Crimeline featured in a bank heist or something. What is the proper procedure?
    Thanks in advance. :)

I used these guys last April http://scrapmycar.ie/index.html

They left a receipt and paid me abou €20 to take it, through my letter box because I wasnt at home when they came for the car.

Got a destruction cert in the post about a week later. No hassle.
