How did you arrive at that particular pair?

I am looking for an integrated dishwasher with a top cutlery shelf.

THe Neff because it was the only one that the euronics store had.
The Whirlpool because I did some researching and found an some reviews where it was listed as one of the best dishwashers - https://www.trustedreviews.com/best/best-dishwashers-3434055 -https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/whirlpool-wio-3o33-del

They're very expensive dishwashers (€700 for a Whirlpool ), I'd look at Bosch and also other retailers - DID, Power City, Harvey Norman etc.

You can lift the cutlery basket out from the bottom tray. Is that really a deal-breaker?

If you're going to choose between a quite expensive Whirlpool and a Neff, then I'd go for the latter ever time, and save money! Or, even try Neff's other sisters, Siemens and Bosch, both of which have models with that "varioDrawer" and get one that suits on price and maybe warranty.
