I want to apply for office roles in the retail industry for the big stores like M&S, Debenhams, TK Maxx, etc as I think it might be more interesting that working for a big corporate company, that's my personal opinion only. Anybody any idea how I go about it? Maybe I have to apply to each individual store's head office. I'm not sure where to start. Any advice most welcome. Thanks.

What's type of job are you looking for?

Admin / clerical roles but I was thinking maybe there might be room for progression to other jobs/departments afterwards. I've been out of the office environment for four years but I've loads of office experience from the past.

It is Admin that I am experienced in. I worked in Supply Control dept for a catalogue company back in 2004, that's as much retail experience as I have. I don't know much about merchandising or advertising but I'd love to try something new.

I'd be looking for something in Cork.

Retail is one of the toughest sectors to work for particularly in Ireland. The Irish stores are one of the worst working environments to work in. In some of these places people just walk out the door because they can't stand the toxic culture. I would think twice about moving into retail

Ok, I have a back up idea, might work on that instead. Thanks, I'm just looking for ideas anyway.
