Photoshop main screen extreme sharpness

This has been wrecking my head for a while now.
After I edit a photo in camera raw, it looks, well, like I want it to look,
But when I save it and return to the main screen it looks like the sharpness has been increased by about 300.
When I save the image, it's fine. It's just on the main PS screen.

I reckon its something simple but damned if I know.
    Any ideas anybody.

How does it look at 100%?

    Good actually,
once I zoom in even once, to 33.3%.
    Whats going on there?

It's trying to display the image as best it can but can't do it accurately when the pixels aren't 1:1. Might be better at 25 or 50%?

The Camera Raw image could be a preview, not the full Res image.

Thanks Kenny, I thought it was 1 step zoom (25%) corrected it but no, it was the next step,
    From 33.3% upwards.
Camera raw might not be full res. but when saved(as a jpeg) its fine.

In the preferences tab then in performance, is "enable GPU" ticked? , if not then it should be. Had a similar issue with mine and that was the cause.

Generally if your zoom isn't at a whole number, such as 25%, 50%, 75% etc it wont look sharp. If its at 25.4% or 33.3% or 67.7% etc it won't look sharp.

    Thanks lads.

Iancar29, Enable GPU WAS ticked, but when I went in to advanced settings (just below that),
    it wasn't.
I checked it in there but it made no difference.

pete4130, the only difference the zoom makes is, it clears at 32% and is fine all the way up through the zoom range then.

    What I have discovered,
is that the problem is the size of the edited image, obvious enough I suppose.
Original image was 7. 13mb, Edited image is 14.4mb,
BUT, the funny thing is, is that I have to reduce the image size to 4.09mb (2800x1836, 72 dpi in the save box)
for the image to reopen clearly in photoshop.
    Anything larger is grainy.

None of this REALLY matters as the image saves fine to photos,
it's just annoying and I'm almost sure it didn't always do it.
    Thanks for the replies.
