    Hi,

I was looking at HTPCs with tv tuners for IPTV to combine saorview and freesat and came across this:

    https://www.vboxcomm.com/ireland-free-tv.html

It seems to tick all the boxes for me ( combined epg, ordering of stations, pause play, record and series record) and I wonder has anyone any experience of it?

I have no intrest in sky/eirsports etc.

I assume I need some sort of media box for at the tv (8 years old) and what would be suitable?

I have been playing around with an Edison OS mega triple tuner to get freesat and saorview combined but Im fed up of it. Cannot get it to do what i want and stay like that!

We are due to move out of the house for building works so my plans for tv cables may be changing! Cat 6 to tv points from router. Is one Cat 6 point at each TV point enough.

    Around €250 delivered.

Only other fly in the ointment is that its out of stock!

    Thanks

I got one and returned it promptly.

It was very slow to change channel but that might well have been caused by the minor damage (to packaging) during transit.

I wasn't prepared to wait and see if it could be improved.

In addition it does not expose its tuners to the likes of tvheadend like SAT>IP devices so decided it was not for me even if a replacement worked properly.

    hi Johnboy,
Thanks for that. A bit disappointing. I thought this would give an out of the box solution.
    Best regards

    It probably does if

    1. it does not get damaged in transit from Israel

    2. your set up is not dependent on easy use with tvheadend

I ended up with a combination of

    Digibox R1 for satellite
    and
    HDHomerun for terrestrial
