Toilet handle disconnected!

    Inside the cistern the handle arm is connected to something like an underwater plastic piston, that controls the flushing mechanism, by a metal clip that is curved at both ends.This is after snapping, so I cant flush the toilet. This clip looks like some DIY job my late father done TBH. Anyone know what this part is called?
