    Hi,

My 12 year old son plays acoustic guitar and is now looking to buy his first electric.

Can anyone please advise/recommend a guitar for him. Does he need to buy an amp as well?

    Many Thanks

What’s your budget, and where are you based?
There are fancy ways to do without an amp, but at his age he’ll definitely need at least a small one.

There are often starter packs available in shops, like this one:

Nothing amazing I imagine, but it might be enough to get 12 year old hooked. Again, it depends on your budget and how committed you think he already is.

We live in Galway City so there are a number of stores but I am just looking for recommendations so as not to get stung. Budget would be up to aroung 300 - 400.
