Becoming a locksmith

I'm not sure this is the right forum but would anyone have experience of becoming a locksmith and what training/qualifications are needed? I see I need to be registered which is no problem as I'm tax compliant and Garda vetted.

I thought of starting out concentrating on domestic lock outs (which seem easier) then gradually training in other areas such as auto.

Any feedback/advice would be much appreciated

You would need to have a CPC licence too this is about €6000.then also you will need experience and training.you would be best off trying to get a job with dyno locks and let them pay for yOur training and also gain on the job experience

Thanks. It's €1000 for new entrants so not too bad.

What are all the other fees from? The link says you only pay €5k if your turnover is over €3.75m in which case I'd happily pay the €5k.

Also I'd only be a sole trader as opposed to contractor if that makes a difference and with no real overheads (van, insurance etc)
