    Hi,
I might need to travel with my dogs.
Do you know of any ferry which allows dogs not in cages kept on the car deck?

My only experience has been travelling with a cat and it has been a bad experience for him as he was in this cage on the car deck and I couldn't visit him. Super noisy and they didn't seem so secure.

Leaving in the car might not be a good option either because I guess it could get hot.

I could also think to change the route if any other ferry would allow them
    (final destination is germany).

    thanks a lot

Stenaline allow pets stay in vehicles.

Irish Ferries Ulysses has a good kennel set up. It is a seperate room off the car deck and is locked whilst the boat is at sea. I think one of the Stena boats is the same. Look on the website, there are virtual tours of the different ships.

Be aware though that Irish Ferries are having issues at the moment, I'm not sure if the Ulysses is back from dry dock yet.

Stena Rosslare to Cherbourg might be your best option. You can book a kennel which are on the passenger deck, so you can visit as many times as you want and get the dog out. Its 17 hours, but a good walk in Rosslare, bedtime wee then a good night's sleep is usually fine. And a great beach then in Cherbourg when you get off to stretch the legs.

Irish ferries, Rosslare to Pembroke, have small kennels on the car deck but I wouldn't recommend them. Most people leave their dogs in their vehicles. No access normally but I did hear someone getting access to a pooch that needed medication during the journey.

    Don't forget you Pet Passport.

we went dublin/holyhead last year on the SWIFT - only 2 hours approx. We gave the dog a good walk around the port before we left, and left him in the car with the windows all open a bit. He was absolutely fine - not too hot in the hold - and its a little dark in the hold which helped too.

thanks a lot for the suggestions..

I will be travelling the 2nd week of September so hopefully won't be too hot.

Still choosing between the SWIFT (2 hrs leaving them maybe in the car), or Rosslare to Cherbourg where I can visit them anytime (but they will still be scared for a longer time).
    Final destination is Germany.

Will keep thinking about the best option (considering that one of the dogs is older).. if you have any suggestions experiences keep them coming!
    :)
    Thanks!
