    What's a BAE?

OP, if you think it's nonsense (and I'm sure it is), why would you bother starting a thread about it?

I know It’s feeding into what I’m complaining about, but this story really summed up the banality of social media/the internet these days.
Probably better suited to the what annoys you thread.

It’s internet shorthand for baby (boyfriend, girlfriend etc).

All credibility is immediately lost when used as such.

The safe space/abortion thread, somebody was using the term 'cray' to describe the pro-lifers instead of 'crazy'. Again, just one letter missing. The more common slang 'cray-cray' is equally annoying.

People who use these 'words' should be liquidated.

#saltbae is another one. Utterly idiotic yet adored and promoted by millions worldwide.

To be honest when my kid sends me a text/SMS he knows to use "real" words and not text shorthand or gibberish. This was enforced with no reply what so ever until he twigged the lack of response.
    :D

    SMS?

That’s surely where text speak is normal and expected.

Slow news day for some journalist. All of 1,000 people on the internet read the original and know what it's about. Nobody else gives a fnck.

I wish journalists would stop picking stuff up from Twitter and claiming that it's a big thing just because it got lots of likes or retweets.

Twitter recently suspended a quarter of its accounts for being suspected spam or bots. It's fair to say the same number again are nothing but spammy retweeters.

The number of actual people who use and care about Twitter is very small. It's a tiny fraction of the population getting really hot and bothered about tiny issues. It's not newsworthy.

Agreed. The resulting bone/flesh slurry could be used to fertilise a nice lawn on which kids who speak properly play.

while not a user of bae by any means, i should point out it is not short for baby, rather it short for before all others, ie the most important person in your life. hopefully that will makes a little more sense to some.

meanwhile, in the real world, who gives a damn about two strangers meeting on a plane? also, not even off the tarmac and they are both saying they are vegetarian. there a joke in there lol.
