Tax Credit Certificate

I'm starting a new job on Monday. I rang Revenue and was told that for my new employer and myself to be issued a tax credit certificate I have to set up an account with Revenue.ie. However I cannot set up the online account.

Can I just ring the PAYE 1890 number on Monday and register the new employment details via phone to avoid emergency tax?

An employer can register you. Give them a P45 from your last job ASAP. If you don't have one from 2017 or 2018, tell them that and they'll register you without (you'll likely have to ring Revenue again though as they'll probably put you on Week 1 basis)

My last employer never gave me my P45. I tried every channel to get it off them. I rang Revenue and they told me that because my last job ended in December 2017 applying for a tax credit certificate is the best thing to do.

    Thanks Synode.

When I try to set up the online account it asks me to give P60 details from either 2016/7. The last P60 I have is from 2015 though.

That's only to verify your account instantly. You should be able to verify by post instead.

"You can get instant access to myAccount if you can verify your identity with two of the following:

    Irish driving licence number
    information from your Form P60
    information about your Income Tax
notice of assessment or acknowledgement of self-assessment from Revenue.

If you cannot provide this information, please select the 'by post' option and we will issue your password by standard post. "
