I've a box for the last 20years. Find its indestructible and bike has always been perfect coming out.

Clubmate has the crc one. Used it dozens of times. Easy to pack. Takes up less storage space than box imo. I bought one for future trips. I had a bad experience recently with a smashed bike box

think it depends on value of bike etc -you want to protect. i use a scicon aero 2 it is good quality and bike fits onto internal drops in bag, so minimum taking apart at both ends of trip etc - well i thought it was good until ryanair handlers instead of delivering it through the oversized baggage area , put it on the carousal in dublin airport and did some damage etc- but all repairable.

overall a good bag and will continue to use. but for me - if it is an expensive bike i would pay to protect it

Does that bag leave the hoods/leavers exposed?

no it covers up around them - kind of tapered at back and wider at front with wheels bagged at side - there is also a protector that goes over rear derailleur also -

if you looking for a lend of bag- you can borrow it as i am not travelling till next april
