Is this a troll. It's being 3 solid weeks of no rain and you wait until now to cut?

Don't you just love when a smart arse gets caught out on his own stupidity.

Lads, unless ye are his next door neighbours there is no need to show off your wisdom from afar.

Maybe he is in a part of the country that has gotten some rain in the last month and (likely) he is talking about a field in heavy ground that was closed up late and was waiting for it to bulk up.

Just because his situation would sound crazy on your farm doesn't mean it doesn't make sense on his.

And by the way OP, what little rain does come wont be long drying off the swath if its shaken out well on Thursday.

Light rain on freshly cut hay speeds up the saving process but obviously sun is king after that

I was watching a field of hay locally, maybe 2 acres, not touched in three days.

I know sfa about hay but surely it should have been turned/baled by this.

It's hard to know though some lads are working off farm and don't have time for turning/cutting when others would be at it.

That’s us, so we get a contractor to bale and wrap.

I've hay to cut but the tractor lift is stuck solid since the weekend, I was baling silage before that. So I've nothing to turn the hay with. The same bloody tractor spent the whole winter out of action because the engine had to be reconditioned. The cab will have to be removed to take off the lift cover.

    +1
wrapped it yesterday. Plan is to leave it in the corner of the field, beside a crop of (knee high) spring barley. Redstart and turnips will go in after the barley. Hopefully something will be fed there this winter. Lads I hope the winter is better than the last one.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
