Is Kidney failure in cattle treatable?

My 4yr old bull wasn't able to reach the pond of water in the past few days because there was a heatwave which reduced the size of the pond, so he wasn't able to reach the water - my vet believes he has kidney failure and thinks he'll have to go to the factory - so there's no way of making him better?

Syptoms: gotten thin, eyes are sunken, won't graze but hes still drinking water

Cattle not getting to water in a heatwave is grim.

It depends if he has reduced capacity or total failure. When organs like kidneys stop completely then they are done. If it were possible to cure them people wouldn’t be on waiting lists for transplants.

If he's not eating & eyes are sunken cut your losses and factory him. At least you'll get something instead of an invoice from a knackery.

Kidney failure seems very specific though. Could be a whole host of things; foreign object, twisted gut, poisoning. Vet that has seen him would know best and if that was his advice I'd heed it.

Do you have a factory agent? Normally they will squeeze in an emergency case
