Convert to MPG ?

Got a moped recently and trying to figure its fuel consumption:
fuel: 3.23L per 100k. Can anyone convert this to MPG please.

As a rule of thumb, divide 280 (282 is slightly more accurate but 280 has more divisors!) into the number you're looking for and you'll be close enough.
For example, if your car does 7 l/100km, then that's roughly 280/7 or 40 MPG.
If your car gets 50mpg, that's approx 5.6 l/100km.

If you're curious, the factor is found as follows:

x litres / 100km is 1/x 100km/litres (flipping distance / consumed fuel around).
This is 1/x litres per 62.1371 miles (converting the km to miles)
This is (4.54609/x gallons) per 62.1371 miles (converting the litres to gallons (UK))
Or (tidying up the factors by multiplying), 282.480848939/x miles per gallon.

I leave it as an exercise to prove it's the same factor going from mpg to l/100km
