    Hi,

Has anybody any experience with Bishop shanahan primary school in Templeogue?

My daughter is 3 and we are currently in the catchment area. But I've heard St Pius is a better school (also a feeder school for Our lady's) but unfortunately we are not in the catchment area for St pius and would be quite low in the admission policy list.

    Any comments are much appreciated.

    Hi,
My two children are in Bishop Shanahan/Galvin. It's a very good school and can be hard to get in to if not in the catchment area. It's a feeder school for Macdaras. My children are girls and there seems to be more boys than girls in Macdaras, I am not sure yet where they will be going to secondary school.
Pius's is also hard to get into, my children weren't baptised as catholic and therefore were refused a place in Pius's (we are in a neighbouring parish without its own school and therefore are prioritised over children from a parish with a school). The whole period trying to get my unbaptised youngest a place in a school was very stressful and St Pius's were not nice to deal with, I would never recommend it as a result. But it's all about it being a feeder school to our Lady's. The baptism barrier will be removed from September 2019 so they will have to be more welcoming to non catholic children.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Bishop Shanahan (the Principal is lovely and a pleasure to deal with). Hth.
