Changing to car insurance with an open claim

    I currently have a commercial vehicle policy but want to change to a private car with business use.

    My current policy is not transferrable to a private vehicle and my broker says no insurance company will quote with an open claim.

    I would need to get three refusals then refer to Insurance Ireland but that'll be complicated and expensive.

    Any alternative advice appreciated.

    Why is the claim still open?
    Is it likely to be open for long?
    Can you wait for it to be settled first?

    Can you not continue with a commercial vehicle?
