Changing flow sensor in MQ-35 Pump

    Hi,

The flow sensor in my MQ-35 is faulty and I need to change.

I turned off the pump then closed the water in and water out valve. I then started o removed the flow sensor screws.once the last screw loose water started to spray out of the flow sensor lid. I just screwed back to stop the water.

Could someone tell me what I did wrong? Should I have turned off pump then closed the water inlet valve. At this stage should I have then opened a tap to relieve the pressure on the pump?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Al

Electric supply off at fused spur first and remove the fuse.
First water inlet off, open tap to relieve pressure, then turn pump water outlet off, open black drain plug at the front of pump head and have something to catch water.
Remove screws on flow sensor and replace.
After fitting new part, ensure drain plug is closed and open water outlet first and a cold tap, preferably the cold bath tap, then open pump inlet valve and allow time for pump head to fill.
    Re-fit fuse and restore power.
Allow water to run until air is purged from pump and pipework.
Check pump stops and starts correctly.
