What is Mullingar like to live in

Hi I'm thinking of moving from Dublin to Mullingar I have 2 teenage children and one primary school child ...any advice welcome

I live near mullingar and worked there for a few years. Over all I think it's a pretty nice town. Some dodgy estates but that's everywhere.
Plenty of businesses so you should get work. I wouldn't know much about the school I think the community college doesn't have a great reputation.
Amenities wise, it has a good bit to offer, two reasonable shopping centres, all the main supermarkets.
Night life is very good, lots of live music, cinema, the theatre does get some good shows.
Plenty to do around as well, there's the walkway and lots of other things you could do on a day off with the kids.
It's on the trainline so you're into Dublin in 1hr 20mins or it's less than an hour to drive (outside commuting times).
Could you try rent an airbnb for a week over the summer to get a feel for the place?

Not really sure. I've a few old colleagues living near there and I've visited their houses. I've walked back to Petiswood Estate which is near there at 3am with another girl and felt perfectly safe!

I do know the estates near the regional hospital aren't meant to be the best.

I really think your best bet is to go have a look yourself. It's only about an hour from Dublin. I'd go have a look at the estate in the early afternoon. Then check out the local amenities, and just have a drive around the area. Then go onto the main street and have dinner. I'm a fan of JPs Steak House, they do a good early bird. Then go back out in the evening to get a 'feel' for the estate again. Maybe even stay the night in a hotel and go out.

I live there and like it however I'm a local so I may have rose tinted glasses.

Lake Point is a grand estate, never heard of any issues. I've you've any specific questions I'd be more than happy to answer them.
