Raised bed from scratch

Built one - delighted

Two thirds topsoil into it then put a couple of bags of compost into it and mixed it in, thinking of couple of bags of manure???

How do I keep this from turning into a weed bed as I don’t plan on planting veg until 2019?

Any help appreciated

I covered my two unused ones with weed barrier for 9 months before I got around to using them. Uncovered the last of them last night and not a single weed. Mypex is the stuff.
Could use a few layers of cardboard instead.

Good idea thanks, does lack of light mess with the soil I wonder ?

Nope. Add some well rotted horse manure (composited) and cover. The worms and other critters will work over the soil once covered and the weed membrane will allow moisture in and the soil to breathe.

Try and purchase the heavy duty mypex and not the light stuff sold in sone garden shops...

Have fallen in love with this guy's method as it suits our work-life arrangement here.
Have only started to switch to raised beds.
Very interesting series of vids. He was at the Organic Centre in Leitrim recently and I missed it!
