What to coat a terra-cotta table with to make it easier to clean

Friend got a lovely garden table bit it’s difficuly to clean if any food goes on it What to coat it with? A varnish or some coating ?

It’s the lovely grout in between that food gets stuck on that’s a problem.
Satin is a good idea also.

There are matching chairs so might try it in the back of those first and if good proceed with the rest
