Just a quick rant about Amazons packaging I just wonder the IQ of the genius that packed this....

The item is a small pack of electronic bits measuring 15mm x 100mm x 120mm.

Yes, the item on the ground was the only item in the box apart from a "mile" of paper packing.

Well, you can't fault the packer for being sure your purchase would arrive safe and sound. ;)

My guess is - new employee nervous on the first day, a prankster on their last day or Amazon was out of boxes :P

I am fuming. Just received a package containing a cuddly toy & a bluetooth headset. The box was so torn that I could remove the headset without opening the box. The toy was crammed in a torn plastic bag & badly stained. The Amazon CS rep was useless & I had to wait on the phone for 25 mins to talk with a supervisor.

Had a few boxes recently where you could have easily removed some of the contents and reclosed without anyone noticing. Also some ridiculous Fastway "deliveries" - hidden behind a bin that was put somewhere totally non-normal so it was obvious that it was hiding something; given to a very elderly lady down the road that forgot she even had it until her granddaughter found it (got 25% back in credit for that one) and so on.

What was a reliable service really, really isn't. Its almost like they've some better delivery option to sell, isn't it? :pac:

Meanwhile, at the opposite end of the scale, I've received two 'packages' in two months where they didn't bother putting them in boxes at all. They just stuck the delivery labels directly on to the products themselves. Attached photo arrived just over an hour ago

Both computer parts, funnily enough. Received a refund on postage for the first, a refund on postage and an extra £15 off on the second. If the refunds keep escalating like that I'll get a top-of-the-range laptop for pennies at this rate

That is one reason I only use AddressPal with Amazon for UK-only deliveries as a last resort. Surprisingly Amazon does not have an option to leave packaging feedback like they had in the past.

One example I can think of was a speaker system I ordered last year and had sent to Parcel Wizard as Amazon wouldn't ship it to Ireland. When DPD dropped off the package about the size of two check-in suitcases, I wondered if I underestimated the size of the speakers. However, the inner box was only about 1/3 the size, surrounded with a substantial number of airbags and enough crumpled paper to fill a garbage bag. I was surprised DPD didn't apply a surcharge. It certainly would have been too big to fit the largest ParcelMotel locker.

On the other hand, Amazon's packaging is better suited for UPS (I-Parcel) deliveries as I don't recall any ever turning up with items missing, even with torn packages.

For comparison, my last three UPS deliveries from CPC Farnell arrived badly torn and covered in packing tape, mainly due to their flimsy cardboard boxes. The following shows one example that was missing half the contents:

When I reported the issue to CPC, they resent the missing items, which also came in a badly torn and taped up box, but at least with all the items that were missing. I don't recall having any issue with any Fastway delivery from any Irish supplier such as eBay sellers that shipped with Fastway, so it seems to be however UPS treats its packages while in the UK.

I've just had yet another open Amazon package delivered. I've never lost anything but its got to the point where 50% of the items are get from Amazon are badly packed in one way or another. There used to be a feedback system for the packaging but that seems to have vanished so is there a simple way to provide Amazon with some kick up the ass feedback about their packaging?

Mod merge. There isn’t a need for a second thread on Amazon packaging.

Do you really think they're going to care about what you think of their packaging?

They can either take notice of what customers say or start paying for the inevitable losses.

Four items in a cardboard envelope that wasn't even stuck down leaves it open to anyone to take what they want out of it and thats if nothing falls out on route.
