My neighbor is giving me an old shed. How much will it cost to move a boundary ? Do we have to go through a solicitor ? Its only about 50sq meters with no cash changing hands.

To the best of my knowledge, and it's fairly limited, you need to register the new boundary with the land regestery, if you want to make it official.
You will need to get the new boundary mapped out by an engenneer, and he will send on plans to solicitor and they in turn sends them on to land regestery. I'd imagine both parties will have to visit the solicitor to ensure that your not trying to swipe the neighbors place from under there feet. It will cost a few euro but for 50sqm and a shed it would be a cheap price to pay.

In my experience and to save headaches and disagreement later on - go through your solicitor. Rights of way etc need to be dealt with properly ...
