Hi, can you clarify if the ban also applies to the gardener businesses employed by management companies to manage apartment communal gardens? And if so, is there anywhere else they can access another water source for the job? Trees planted in shallow beds covering car-parks are dying and I'm trying to save them. I understood that business are allowed to use the water as needed but to reduce it.

    Hi Ashtownguy,

Hi, we are mindful of the impact that a Water Conservation Order might have on businesses, so this legislation is focused on domestic users, but we are also appealing to businesses to limit all non-essential water use where possible.

We recommend using Watering cans, rather than power hoses or hosepipes in order to help preserve reservoir levels during this time.

    Kind regards,
    Mairead

Are individual owners of private wells exempt?

    Hi,
Are individual owners of private wells exempt?
The Irish Water Conservation Order does not apply to private wells or private group water schemes.

    Thanks,
    Mairead

    Hi johndoe99,

We can confirm that once you use a watering can and not a hosepipe to water your vegetables, you are free to do so.

I hope this helps, please let us know if you have any further queries.

    Kind regards,
    Louise
