Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

New Comissioner a Garda?

    Hi all....happy to see a new commissioner from outside the force, I wish him well and best of luck taking on the "blue wall".
    A question: Once he is sworn in (or equivalent), is he then legally considered a Garda? Not that I expect him to be working traffic or making arrests, wondering does a commissioner have to be a "sworn officer" and if so how qualified considering he never went to Templemore.
    Over here in the states, to be a copper, one has to have graduated from an academy and be licensed in that particular state as a Peace Officer. As an example, there have been cases where a sheriff is elected (whole other story) who is not a qualified Peace Officer and they had attend an academy to be licensed. Likewise where a police chief is appointed from State A as chief in State B, he/she has to meet state B requirements. There has been the occasional delay in an appointment waiting for the licensing to get sorted. 
    Still, it's a great and braver step forward and well needed.
