Dealer not responsive on warranty enquiry

I bought a 2nd hand car from a dealer a few weeks ago and it turns out the AC is not working. A Recharge from halfords did not work, it had some fluid before recharging. The compressor seems to be kicking in ok.

I rang the dealer and they said they would talk to the mechanic and get back to me, nothing since and they are not returning my calls.

Had a closer look at it over weekend and found a few other problems:

    - Rear CV boot is cut and leaking grease
    - Both rear shocks are leaking, one much more than the other
    - There is a slight oil leak from the bottom of engine, supposedly a common problem resolved by replacing the oil filter gasket and o-rings

Is it the norm to get things like this fixed on a 2nd hand warranty? How best I proceed without this turning into a debacle?

If your sitting by the phone waiting for the dealer to ring back then you'll be sitting there along time. You need to pay them a surprise visit in person.

Also what does the warranty cover?

    Ah second hand car dealers.

    Always the trustworthy sort.

    Buyer beware.

Warrantee likely to cover v little

What car is it? Year, engine, and as much detail as possible. And what kind of money did you spend?

I think you should bring it back to them. I'd be making more noise about those mechanical issues rather than the A/C.

Actually it does, I couldn't decipher thehand writing, I think it 'Engine and Gearbox failure' which doesn't bode well, I guess good will is all I can hope for. The CV joint needs to be done ASAP and won't cost much, am I right in thinking that most dealers would fix something like that for free? Clearly the car had all these issues before I bought it, in fairness I think they had only got the car in when I purchased

It depends a lot on the dealer. Is it a main dealer, an independent dealer or a portakabin dealer?

What kind of warranty? Manufacturer? In house? 3rd party provider?

What kind of car is it? How much was it?

To be fair the time to look over the car was before you bought it but that's no use to you now, that said, depending on where you bought it from I'd expect at least some of those issues to be put right.

I'd also agree, don't hold your breath waiting for the dealer to call back and at that, what is the call back going to achieve? If the car has a fault, you bring it back to them to check it out.
Some sort of VAG group car, portakabin dealer, 3rd party warranty.
