Self employed expenses

    Hi,
    just quick question. Can the self-employed/sole trader claim expenses of for example machines bought/leased before self-employment started? Revenue website just states about accountancy fees and similar.
    To be precise, my wife has "hobby" which she wants to expand from sale on adverts to Sunday booth in shopping centers, which require her to register as a trader.
