The project reteams Jenkins and Pine, who worked together on Wonder Woman.

Inspired by true events, I Am the Night tells the incredible story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley) who was given away at birth. As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets to her past, she follows a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Hollywood gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel (Jefferson Mays), a man involved in the darkest Hollywood debauchery. Pine plays Jay Singletary, a former Marine-turned-hack-reporter/paparazzo. Leland Orser, Yul Vazquez, Dylan Smith, Golden Brooks, Justin Cornwell, Jay Paulson and Connie Nielsen also star.

A Fighter’s Heart and The Disaster Diaries author Sam Sheridan wrote five of the six episodes, inspired by the life of Fauna Hodel. The series is produced by Turner’s Studio T, with Jenkins, Anonymous Content and Sugar23’s Michael Sugar (13 Reasons Why, Spotlight), Pine, Sheridan and Carl Franklin, (House of Cards, Homeland) serving as executive producers, with Franklin also directing two episodes.

I Am the Night is slated to premiere in January.

The opening episode was really really good.

Pine and Eisley are really impressive in their roles.

That was a really good opener. The look, feel and music does a good job for immersion into the story and I really got into it.

Gliding towards the end I wasn't expecting to feel so .. anxious/apprehensive? Then Pines suicide attempt and going on to the party with the message from the grandmother surrounded by empty booze bottles and then.. THEN! the real life photos!

So I was like.. this is based on real events?!!?

Then the ominous preview of the rest of the season!

2: It seems to me that the overall goal is to find out what Hodel did or maybe see Fauna and Jay bring him to justice.. maybe

Anyway, the show is really well produced, like the little things.. they didn't need to put a homeless guy in the alley next to the prostitutes place. I barely glimpsed him but I thought it jumped out that they were really putting a lot into the show.

It is such a beautifully film show.

I knew some of the story about who Hodel was linked to be and what happened to him so I'll be interested to see where they are going with this story.

    3: WTF was that!

What a beautifully filmed series this is I’m going to say this after every episode.

The two leads are doing an amazing job.

    4:
Pine was great in this week episode.

dude ... this show is a bit ..

I mean like.. towards the end I was expecting to be coming here to talk about how Pine
    killed Sepp and how well
Pine did that scene. That had me at

    BUT NO

Then it ended like that and much like Pine I was pretty much
followed by *getting it* *imagining it*
then a bit of :( and then a bit of an eerie feeling

Then those pictures/videos from the time at the end of the episodes!

Gonna have to brace for the next one.

    5:
    First
    I really felt for Fauna
    Then
    the cop got Pine's character
    Then
    Jimmy
    :(

Those pictures at the end. The actor for George Hodel looks way off.

    What a fantastic series.

    That final episode was intense.

Pine and India Eisley completely owned their roles and hopefully will get recognized with some awards or nominations at the very least.

The real Fauna was a co-producer of this.

Hodel's own story would/will make an interesting series/real life documentary one day Black Dahlia and maybe his links to
    Zodiac
    as well.

    Good series.

    6:
    Yes intense there with
Fauna and I was almost about to jump and say F**K YEAH! if she shot him.

    I'm guessing Hodel
was a psychopath. The start of the episode kinda gave that impression.
I don't really know a lot about the Black Dahlia but I think the series allowed for that.

I liked how it ended. A sense of
calm as she read the letter and Jimmy looked OK. Then the photo of her with her daughters kinda raised my spirits.

Checking the writing / directing on the wiki...
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_the_Night_(TV_series)

... it was cool to see Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) and Victoria Mahoney (seven seconds) were directors. I didn't recognise the last Carl Franklin.

The writer Sam Sheridan did well for almost his first gig:
