    Hi all,

We weaned the lambs at the weekend and put the ewes back in the shed for two reasons:

    (1) Out of sight and sound from the lambs

    (2) Running short of grass in this current weather

There's 36 ewes and they're getting 4 bales of 2016 hay per day. Most are grand and have hardly batted an eyelid at their new living arrangements but I've noticed 4-5 who are picking away at the hay but look fairly slack; that is, stomach sucked in.

We checked before putting them in and a few had a BCS of 2.5 but the rest were 3.0-3.5. I'm no expert but this was roughly the BCS I gave them on handling.

My question is, should we let the slack looking ones back out? Or is it just natural that a few would look like that coz of the change in diet and they'll be OK in a few days?

    Thanks.
