Just thought this might be of interest to people.

It's a German (language) review from 2017 of the next generation of Horizon:

I assume that's what we'll be getting here.

Nice find . New Interface confirmed in that model, with the same menu format.
It looks neater and cleaner than the current version, but the ondemand scrolling in that video did not look good. What has liberty media against smooth scrolling like sky's ? it makes for a much nicer interface.

AFAIK those plans have changed, for Ireland anyway, as Liberty have now extended their licence for TiVo to their entire European operations. Incidentally Liberty has agreed to sell UPC Austria to T Mobile though that deal may not yet be completed.

From what I’ve read it looks more like Liberty have bought rights to use TiVo’s technology patents within their own Horizon platform rather than replacing it with TiVo.

There’s been hints that the UK may be getting a new version of horizon with significant amounts of TiVo tech baked in, rather than a new version of TiVo

Anyone have any idea when this is going to be rolled out? Im at a juncture whereby I can go with Sky but the price of Sky for TV and Virgin for broadband is so much higher than just going with Virgin for everything. I cant get Sky Fibre in my apartment unfortunatly. The horizon boxes are simply unusable so there is no way I am going with Virgin for TV.

I wish they would just role out the update already or give people new boxes.

Not to mention it doesn't support 4K when it's now a standard feature of any mid to high end TV, yet itclaims to be a premium television service.

Virgin Media Ireland: do try to keep up!

Looks like it wont be until 2019 now until the new "Eos" box launches according to the Irish Times. Seems so strange that a box that is already launched in multiple markets all over Latin America, Europe and even the UK cant be rolled out quicker in Ireland. What is holding it up?

Snippet of info taken from the IT website. Most of the article speaks about Liberty Globals plans to bid on sporting rights but the below bit of info was thrown in on the new box:
Its new set-top box, known as Eos after the Greek goddess of the dawn, will be rolled out in the Irish market in 2019.

They'd want to be careful, as they'll lose TV customers they'll pay very dearly to win back. There are other *very* good options out there ranging from Sky, to Freesat, to just using Netflix.
