    Hi,
Just got sky q installed during the week and have sat down to watch the hurling finals only to realise that it is in standard definition.

Is there a way to add the HD channel to the epg?

Both RTE 1 and 2 HD are on 12246 Vertical. Can you tune them in using the details here?

I just tried tuning it in and I found it. However, when I went to view it a message came up saying it was not available in my region!

I thought we should be able to get it here in the occupied counties?

Not if you're paying for Sky in sterling! :D

So you can view an SD version but not the HD version?

That is strange .... as in I have no idea why it should be unless you do not have a HD subscription.

There were reports last week from people in NI that they couldn't watch the Sunday Game. Sky said they would sort it. Still not fixed perhaps?

Although I think the problem was with the night programme.

Odd that I can get it in SD but not HD.

Yes, I can view the SD version. I can manually find the HD version but it will not let me view it.

Also yes, I do have the HD subscription.

I'll get the saorsat plumbed into the TV to resolve this. I just find it off that I can't view it in HD.

    From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTÉ_One
Sky Ireland launched the channel on 14 December 2015, as part of a new long-term partnership with RTÉ, however the channel hasn't been made available on Sky UK's Northern Ireland EPG. In response to queries, RTÉ currently advises Northern Ireland Sky subscribers to contact Sky on the matter whereas Sky replies that it's an issue for RTÉ as to whether they make their HD channel available.[9]

Reads to me as a dispute over payment.

Rte said last week it wasn't their issue and Sky apologised. Looks like Sky haven't sorted it.

I am not sure if the SD version was transmitted as there is no mention of it. It is perhaps the case that people wouldn't be aware of the SD channel, which could be much further down the epg?

That seems to be a different issue in that the programme was "blacked out" mistakenly and was on RTE Two HD which seems to be on the NI EPG, whereas this thread is about RTE One HD which simply does not exist on the NI EPG.

Just obtain rte 1 hd from saorview . Better sound and video quality than over satellite.

Can't get saorview, but I can pipe in saorsat.
    Not really the point though.

Your satellite provider is penny pinching. RTÉ are rightfully not giving RTÉ One HD for free.
