    Hi guys,

I have a Technician Grade 1 interview coming up - I really don't know what to look up!

A starting point - Annual Report, Budgets etc....? Could you be asked literally anything, as the post is relevant to all sections in a council?

Any advice would be welcome! Thank you!

Read the monthly or annual report of the Chief Executive Officer. Take down a few key points and metrics.

Under control of Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government (Eoghan Murphy).

What are the key functions of the Council? Answer - to deliver high quality services to the general public. To make the area a great place to live, work and do business.

Services provided by the Council - Roads & Transport, Housing, Parks and Recreation, Education, etc.

    Name-drop some of the following:

    Housing Assistant Payments (HAP scheme)

Major sources of income - Local Property Tax, Motor Tax, Rates, Parking Fees.

Challenges faced - forced to do 'more with less' during the recession. Recruitment freezes.

Local Government Act 2014 has driven significant change programme. Efficiencies. Smart technology (like App parking) Consolidation of services. HAP is now a shared service centre for all local authorities.

'Ireland 2040' National Development Plan.... by 2040, the Irish population is expected to grow by 1 million. We need better infrastructure and to make the country fairer and more inclusive.
