How to View Android Internal Memory - File Explorer

I have a Moto G4, with 2 GB ram and 16 GB internal memory. Plus a 32 Gb SanDisk SD card. Android 7.0 and Windows 10 on the PC.

So, when I connect the phone by a USB cable to the PC and choose the "transfer files" option, File Explorer on the PC allows me to see the files on the SD card - but it does not show any of the files / folders on the 16GB internal memory of the phone itself.

It recognises that the phone is a Moto G4 and shows the SanDisk SD card as a subfolder.

Is there any way to see on the PC what is on the phone's internal memory?

Googled for exact instructions, guessed its probably something along these lines
Assumption: Your Windows 10 PC has alrady loaded the USB driver and Windows Explorer recognises the Moto G (4) but no folders are displayed.

    Solution:

On the Moto G 4 enable Developer Options and change the default USB behavior from Charge Only to MTP File Transfer.

    Disconnect the USB cable.
In Settings/ About Phone/ Tap Build Number (all the way on the bottom) 5 times. Developer options will be shown second from the bottom in settings. Turn on Developer options, under 'Select USB Configuration', select MTP.
exit and plug in the USB cable.

If USB configuration is already set to MTP and the files are not visible on the PC, disconnect the USB cable, on the Moto G 4 Plus go back to Developer Options / Select USB Configuration and change to USB charging and exit, then go back into Select USB Configuration and change to MTP.
At top of screen under Developer option, turn Off (to avoid accidental changes to anything else).

    Exit back to settings
    Plug in USB cable
Windows PC should now recognise Moto G (4) with Internal storage shown.

Navigate down through this as for any hard drive.

Basil3, I had already done all that, but no joy. Thanks for trying, anyway.

No probs. I imagine it's something similar to the directions shown. Theres no reason why they'd block it.

You can still easily see what's on internal using any file explorer app anyway.
