    Hey everyone :)

This coming June bank holiday I'm hoping to get away for a few days somewhere in Ireland. However I really want to avoid festivals. At the moment I've got work stress, college stress and a bunch of other nonsense going on, so what I'm really craving is some time off near the sea, perhaps with a small cafe or pub where I can read and most importantly, nothing much going on.

Most people will be heading down here to Kilkenny for the Cat Laughs or to some equivalent noisy drink-fest, but I'm old, tired and all I want is some damn peace and quiet.

    Can anyone recommend something?

Go camping. I do it for a few weeks along the west coast every summer.... I tell ya, if you want a nice, peaceful holiday, there's nothing like it.

    Galway?
    Donegal?

If the weather is decent though, you'll have a hard time finding somewhere on a bank holiday weekend near the sea that's quiet.

Depending on what you're budget is, you could look at Kelly's in Rosslare. It's really gorgeous, not much going on, just nice to go for a swim, walk the beach, use the outdoor hottub, nice pub close by, great food. Really really just so relaxing.

I'll be in Rosslare that weekend, but not in Kelly's unfortunately! I'll be slumming it in my mobile :pac:

Hmmm. Great suggestions folks thanks :) I'm in the southeast so Rosslare is really nice - tho I'm sure Kellys would be packed for the bank holiday. Honestly haven't heard of Woodford before now - no offence to you Galwegians :) Have to check these out.

Guess what I'm driving at is your classic "sleepy village" or some such. I'm not the camping type really but I do like the outdoors otherwise hillwalking and what not..
