Grass Seed in slurry

I was hoping to reseed my silage ground this year after the second cut. Looking at the growth over the last few weeks it might be late August early September before I cut it, which is a month later than I had planned. I was thinking could I add seed to the slurry that I couldn’t put out after the first cut because it was too dry. Would it work if it was added to the slurry at agitatation and put the slurry out with a trailing shoe or injector. If so I think I was told before that you need to get a special seed ( maybe coated) as the seed will burst. I would not spare off just over seed immediately after the silage comes off. Has anyone done this or know anything about this.

I know a lad that empty’s a bucket of seed down the pipe then sucks up a load of slurry. He reckons it mixes as it’s filling and is happy with the results.

Thought about it, intrigued by it but with the price of seed I'd be happier to hear about it first.

What about mixing in grass seed with a bag of 10
10 20 or sand or whatever, shake it.

And let the tank spread slurry on top.

Would it be worth spraying the field with mcpa to slow the old grass down, slowing grass down not a problem for most of us through.

    Brain fart over

More chances of teagasc doing a demo on how to seed a field from a helicopter

In this weather, suggest spread seed first ( could be mixed in with Sand & or Fertiliser ) That way it has a good chance of hitting the earth.
If mixed with the slurry, there a hi probability the slurry will mat onto the grass & remain suspended & seed will perish from lack of moisture & ground contact.

This is why I love boards a crazy idea gets put to bed with experience and knowledge. Cheers saved me a good few quid on grass. Back to the original plan. Thanks

The year my dad died he had two fields already sprayed off to reseed.
It was a mad decision as we would have nothing but stones rather than soil.

Anyway, we grazed off ground, scrubbed it up with power box as we had no Harrow, got a neighbor to spread the seed with a wag tail, rolled and light coat of slurry.

    Seed took just fine.

Well done. Keeping it simple is the name of the game. No need for complications

It works better with Italian ryegrass.
