P60 is incorrect - number of insurable days

Hey all,

An issue came to light today at work, it turns out our P60s for the past few years has recorded our number of insurable weeks incorrectly (at 56). Work is saying they will look into this and might fix at some point, but they don't seem concerned.

I've used the P60 to submit taxback claims and so on without any trouble - is this something I should worry about?

The insurable weeks refers to PRSI contributions not tax. Your P60 would have matched the end of year p35 your employer would have filed with Revenue so there shouldn't be any taxation issue.

The additional insurable weeks issue might just be an administrative issue. No harm to check with welfare to see if all was in order on the PRSI side as PRSI is a welfare issue not Revenue.

where there is "53" weeks in a tax year there is an extra calculation involved .
I had a letter from my employer a few years ago to state this.
I had to highlight this online when doing a balancing for the year.

There's a separate box on the P60 for week 53 issues to be highlighted. From the op it appears to revolve around the PRSI section.

Also, it's not 53 weeks, it's 56. I've fired an email off to query anyway, I'll let people know what the advice from Welfare is.

Register and request a contribution statement . Within 3 days you will have a statement showing your contributions since you started working .


If you already have your Public Services Card , then this registration may be easier .

If you already have your Public Services Card , then this registration may be easier.

And if you've registered your mobile phone number you can have a passcode texted to you which enables you to view your PRSI contribution history online - and print it off if you want to.
