Wondering if it would make more sense for these 2 "county" papers to be renamed in terms of where they actually cover for news.

    Thoughts?

Calling it the 'Athlone Independent' would reduce the paper's appeal to people outside the town when in fact it covers events in south Westmeath and south Roscommon. The Westmeath Independent is sold in shops in Ballinasloe and I would assume as far east as Kilbeggan so commercially it would not make sense to change the name.

The same would apply to the Westmeath Examiner - they would lose shedloads of readers in Castlepollard, Coole and Delvin by removing 'Westmeath' from the name of the paper.
