I've (some sort of) pine tree in my back garden that I want to be gone, can anyone recommend a tree removal service? And if you've any idea about the cost, all the better :)
    Thanks!

Isn't it illegal to cut trees before the autumn.

I would assume that the pro that takes it down will know. There is no rush, it can wait until then, but is has to go down. I'm not happy about it, quite the opposite, but it's too close to the back garden wall and tall enough to do damage if it falls by its own due to weather.

    no

roadside or trees within a certain distance of a dwelling can be cut at any time if is deemed that they are hazardous

(who knows after all this fine weather we could get a freak storm ;) )

Interesting that these guys mention nothing about it being illegal to remove trees with nesting birds. If they aren't considering legislation, It gives the impression to that they aren't a very professional service.

All birds are protected in Ireland when they are on the nest. It might not seem like it because there is little enforcement, but if OP is willing to wait until the breeding bird season is over they won't do any harm.

A bow saw will take that down in 20 minutes. Or a sharp axe.

DIY it's not an option. It can't be brought down as there is no place to fell without doing damage, so it has to be chopped from the top down. And the wood have to be removed as well, I've no use for it.
