Hi Folks will be using 24kwh leaf to travel from Cabinteely to Ballydangan, Co. Roscommon
staying the night in Ballydangan , so can use Granny cable to charge overnight

Next Day I travel home Ballydangan, Co. Roscommon to Cabinteely

I guess I will need to charge at Enfield (Applegreen Enfield Services), , Kilbeggan and Athlone rapid chargers

Just wondering are these chargers working OK. I can use Ecars app , to check but dont always find it accurate

    Thanks

Totally unreliable. I plugged into the Newlands Cross FCP with 63%. I was popping over to the Hotel for a half hour, so left a note stuffed into the headlight to unplug me if a charge was needed. I started the charge and left. 20-25 minutes later I return and an L40 is plugged in. Grand I thought, I didn't "need" to charge (hence the note). Turns out I still only had 63% and the chap in the L40 thought I had abandoned the car to fully charge so confronted me :D

I explained I had only been parked a half hour and left a note to unplug me etc etc. Seems the note was blown onto the ground and he didn't see it. He unplugged my car when he arrived. So my charge never actually started!

We ended up chatting for a good 20 minutes about EVs. He got the L40 a few weeks ago, shortly after buying an L30. Moved from a 171 Galaxy and a banged up Yaris hybrid. He didn't accept that rapidgate can be an issue here.....but maybe the hot weather will show him on his long drives to Cork if he plugs in. He says he drives Dublin to Cork regularly in the L40.

That's outrageous that he felt it was ok to unplug you without the note.

Especially as it appears he arrived just after you left.
It's one thing to arrive at a car, wait 30 mins and the owner has not returned, another completely to just rock up and assume the person is not coming back.

In fairness, he thought my charge had completed. He didn't emergency stop it....as it seems the charge either didn't start, or interrupted.

Ahh ok, that's fair enough, sounded like he'd done the emergency stop.

    recently is irrelevant.
What matters is if the damn thing works when you plug in.
You can check on all the different apps etc to see if they are off line.

There are 2 in Dolan’s garage on the way in to Ballinasloe and 2 more in the middle of town, they always seem to be working.

Sorry but what’s the relevance of that long winded story about a charger on the n7 to the ops request about chargers on the m4 and m6?

You got the PlugShare app? All those chargers have been used successfully in the last few days and here are heaps of check-ins over the last few months virtually without issue. FWIW I’ve been up and down to Cork and Kilkenny a few times, encountered the odd bit of queuing but never a charger not working.

If you stick to 100km/h on cruise control you’ll likely only need to stop once for a quick stop, so you could probably pull in a bit early at Enfield and charge, in the highly unlikely event it has an issue press on to Kilbeggan...
