    Re Clubs , Associations and Societies ? AGM. Can an out going committee tell members that they elect the new in coming committee by text message before the AGM. Replies much appreciated.

    Depends on the specifics. Unincorporated associations (most clubs, a few societies) can do whatever they want legally; incorporated ones have to abide by their own rules or you can take them to court (though the courts don't seem to want to get involved in a company's internals unless it's what they judge to be significant either by how egregious the violation is or how much money is at stake).

    What's in your club constitution?
    Have you a set quorum for an AGM and was this met, in fact was the AGM actually ran as per your constitution or rules.
    Can you briefly explain the situation as it's a bit vague to what actually happened.
    In some cases members who wish to stand for election may not attend the meeting but be accepted for nomination any how and be proposed and seconded etc etc.
