I went to an Orthodontist and unfortunately can't just get braces (would need surgery too). I was told I could get a cosmetic filling to fill the gap between my central incisors - my question is, is it normal procedure to get an injection to numb the area first before a cosmetic filling?

yes, its normal to get and injection before a filling cosmetic or otherwise. Your dentist can advise.

Cheers - suppose I'd want to rapidly get over my fear of needles... :D even after nearly 30 blood donations!!
