Moving House - Cats need fostering

Sorry if this is a duplicate post but can’t seem to find where’s best to post. I’m awake worrying about this and need advice/help.

I’m due to move out of my home on Sunday. New house purchased but not ready until mid to late August so renting in the intem.

I have two cats, who I planned to leave with a friend (her offer) but learned yesterday she no longer was in a position to take them. I have been stressed to bits since.

One of my cats is afraid of her own shadow so I’m heart broken at even the thoughts of leaving her somewhere.

What are my options? What’s best to do? The best solution my parents have is to ask the new owners if they would look after them for the period of time until new house is ready but to me this is an absolutely rediculous idea. Tell me you agree with me??

We sold our house late last year & for various reasons our buyers weren't able to close for three weeks after our (their proposed) agreed closing date & all our things were packed & gone. We didn't know it was going to be that long but it ended up being so.
We had decided to put the cat into the cattery for the first five days after the move anyway as he'd have been afraid with all the comings & goings so he ended up on an extended holiday but settled very well into the new property when he did arrive as have we!!

Maybe this could be an option for you? A little expensive perhaps but so takes the worry out of it.

Has your new landlord specified no cats?

She’s a friend with a dog so not an option. I think I’m going to go down the Cattery route. Expensive but I couldn’t live with myself if I abandoned them, or they ran away

Where are you based? If Dublin (North), I use River Cottage Cattery in Balscadden (in behind Balbriggan). I couldn't recommend them enough. They take in long term visitors.

A cattery would be a good option if they are going to be there for 2 months you could see could they do you a deal most places will especially ones outside Dublin.

If you want to use someone long term try Snuggles near Straffan. Its a bit of a spin for you but they are amazing. We used the kennels part of it for our dog, but I have seen where the cats are kept and it is like their home away from home. My dog LOVED it there.
